UK coverage

Help with searching

Here's how to conduct a search for Network Coverage.

The coverage options are as follows:

Selecting the 'Current O2 coverage' will give you the most recent view of the services the O2 GSM, GPRS and 3G. Each map is time stamped with the date the coverage models were generated. Whilst O2 UK rolls out its 3G network it will not always be possible to be in an area of 3G coverage. In this scenario your device will dynamically attach to the GSM/GPRS network. To provide an integrated view of O2 UK network coverage, available services to all O2 3G subscribers are overlaid onto the GSM/GPRS coverage map.

Selecting the 'Future O2 coverage' followed by a subsequent entry in the Search & Location field, will enable you to see what we predict O2's network coverage will be like within the next 9 months.

Search By

In order to find your chosen location on the map, you will need to select an option by which to search. WebMap provides the following search options:

  • Postcode
  • Town/City
  • Motorway Junction
  • Sounds Like

Use the drop down menu to select the option you wish to search by.

Sounds-Like

If you are unsure of the exact town name, you can use the 'Sounds Like' option. This will enable you to type in your version of the town name & the search will display a number of possible options in the 'Alternatives' box to the left of the screen. You must include a minimum of 4 characters. Leads for example will return among others:

Laithes
Ledaig
Leeds (Kent)
Leeds (West Yorkshire)

Town / City

In order to search via a UK Town or City, you should include at least 2 characters. If you enter the town name correctly & in full and the search function finds an exact match, you will be taken directly to that location on the map. Your chosen location will mark the centre of the screen.

e.g:

Slough Green (Somerset).

If the search finds a number of possible matches, it will notify you that a number of alternatives have been found, and it will display those alternatives in the 'Alternatives' box, to the left of the screen.

e.g: Slough will return among others:

Slough
Slough Green (Somerset)
Slough Green (West Sussex)

If the town name has been entered incorrectly or NO matches have been found, a 'Location not Found' error message will appear on your screen. Please check your spelling and start again. If your spelling is correct and your town is still not found, please notify us via the contact us screen. In the meantime you can search for the nearest large town or city.

Town / City Not Found

WebMap contains an extensive search database of major cities, towns and villages. This list is intended to supplement the comprehensive Postcode database. Please recognise that not all cities, towns and villages are contained in this data base. If the city, town or village you have searched for is not found, please specify an adjacent location or use alternative search criteria e.g. Postcode or Motorway Junction.
